Anyone have info or a value for these?
« on: November 24, 2015, 04:33:10 PM »
I picked up this lot today. 1 No. 8 and 1 no.10 skillets marked "erie" on the bottom. The 8 is flawless, the 10 has some scratches or utensil marks on the cooking surface, it also needs a good cleaning. 1 no name griddle 11 1/4 in that looks like it was made by wagner, and a colonial breakfast skillet patent applied for 666. and 2 child size pots or cauldrons one looks like it has a griswold handle the other is simply marked with a 0 on the bottom. I paid $75.00 for the lot. Any info on value or general info such as age is appreciated. Thank you!
also every time I try to attach pictures with my post it tells me the file is too large. If anyone can help with that I would share the pictures. Thanks again!

Hello Susan. :)

Hopefully this thread will help you with How to Post Pictures.

Without good pictures of each item, we would just be guessing, because condition and markings of items are critical to assessing value.

Hello Susan. Sounds like you got some pieces for sure. Can you post pictures, if so we would be better enabled to help you with what you have. Thanks Susan. Looking forward to seeing your pictures.  :)

Here are some more pictures. I didnt include the unmarked griddle, It has Wagner lettering, it is a little warpped and I expect its not worth much if anything from a collect or stand point... I think once its cleand up it will make a killer pizza though! :)

I would be happy with those two 2nd series Erie pans w/maker marks (c 1886-1892)  and the colonial skillet(c1940's, $35-40) for 75 bucks. You did well, Susan...just the two Eries together could likely bring you $250, or more,  on ebay once properly restored.  Sorry, don't know much about those little pots. Have you checked the cooking surfaces on those Eries for any bow to them? That Gris popover pan is from the 50's...maybe worth 30-40 bucks. Any markings on those wagner cornstick pans? Do you plan to use these pieces or sell them?

Excellent haul, Susan.  The Eries alone are worth good money, as Mark said, once they are properly restored.

one of the corn stick pans is typically marked, the other has no markings except for a "v" on the handle and the last corn stick. I have checked for warping. The no. 10 sits dead flat. the no. 8 sits flat if the handle is anywhere to the left, if it is to the right it has a very slight wobble to it. I think on a gas stove it wouldnt be a problem. I will be keeping them to use and display. I dont think I will ever again find Eries in useable condition that I can afford  :)
I bought them from a man who was unfamiliar with the "ERIE" marking. He thought the only marked peice was the breakfast skillet. The muffin pan I bought 6 months ago from the same man, I paid 40. for it. the corn stick pans I picked up at a thrift shop for $3. each.
My family is installing display hooks on my kitchen wall for me as a Christmas present ;D

Thanks everyone!! Much appreciated!!

Well the reason I asked about any bowing to the cooking surface is I have a #8 Erie that has no wobble at all but an upwards bow inside the pan. I have a #10 Erie that has a flat cooking surface but slight movement front to back. So, you put a little tab of butter in the #8 and it runs right to the side. You crack an egg in it and it does the same thing. I find that annoying. You do that with the 10 and it stays where you dropped it. Sometimes there is a downwards bow, but not enough to make it wobble on the heat ring. I won't buy another skillet with an upwards bow, at least not a user skillet. A slight downwards bow I could live with. So as to value, a flat cooking surface does matter if you were ever to sell them...which is why I asked.  ;)

Thanks Mark, I have the 2 Eries all cleaned up and reseasoned, the no.8 I used, it didnt have any noticable cooking issues except that it skates a bit on my electric stove. I find it annoying, I will either get used to it or I will just display the pan until I can move to a place that has gas in the street ::). I have yet to try the no. 10 out. I just got a call back from someone who has a muffin tin and several other peices they are looking to get rid off so my electrolysis tank and I may be very busy!! :D

Wow..you got that done pretty quick..how did your #10 come out? IMO, my number 10 erie is a gift from God! It gets used more than anything else I own.  ;)
