Blacklock dutch oven value
« on: October 13, 2015, 05:11:50 PM »
Anyone have any idea of the value of a dutch oven with "BLACKROCK FOUNDRY SOUTH PITTSBURG TENN" around the lid and "10 IN" on the handle and across the center of the lid?   Can send a picture if it helps!

Thanks,
Jerry

Image 1 of the up-close left underside of the lid shows the only damage to the dutch oven. The small white speck outside the lid rim is a small whole through the metal.

Jerry, that is what many people would call a spider skillet.  The marked lid is just awesome.  Those are very popular with collectors.  I would expect it to sell for $200-300 if there are no hairline cracks or damage.  It's hard to really put a good value on it because they don't sell very often.  Those are very hard to find. I have seen some sell in that range though.

The pin hole will hurt it some, but again those are really hard to find marked the way that is.

Thank you very much for the great information.  Can you suggest the best way to find a good buyer?

You will get the most attention listing it on ebay.

I agree with Roger here. When was the last time that I ever seen a Blacklock lid like this? NEVER :o :o

Just an off-sided idea. You don't happen to live close to South Pittsburgh, TN do you? If you do, you might get hold of Lodge itself and see if they are interested in it. Hope up you don't mind but I plan on "grabbing" those pictures of yours to study. Very nice item.
