Gris hammered #3.. p/n 2003

Not to bad a shape. Few utensil marks, and a little spot of rust trying to sprout up. Needs a little TLC... Thanks

Ed,

Hope you've been staying out of trouble.

I haven't noticed one of these sell on eBay recently.  At the Erie convention, Cal and Ann gave the attendees a great presentation that included all of the hammered, cast iron pieces.  Their talk was summarized in The Casting Call, Volume 10 No. 4.  Cal stated that $75 to $100 is a fair price for the non-hinged No. 3.

Hi Jeff. Trouble finds me .. LOL. I think 75 -100 is pre hammered iron craze value.  Hammered iron seems to be very popular looking at sold auctions on ebay.  A CHF 78  DO just sold $ 659 on ebay,  not long ago a Lodge hammered double skillet brought $ 900. Someone got a great buy on a CHF 108 DO. I've never seen one did not know it existed. Buyer musta talked seller into the $250 BIN, because it did not start out with a BIN. Seller should have let it ride, it would have easily doubled 250.
Thanks for the reply Jeff, I do appreciate it.

Ed,

I checked ebay last night and one of these is currently $306.  That seems high because I didn't pay a whole lot more for the hammered No. 3 with the cover.

But you are correct about the crazy prices hammered iron is selling for.  It might be a good time to unload a hammered No. 10 Lodge I have sitting around.

Oh, by the way.  I am sorry to hear that trouble is finding you.  I would suspect that trouble frequently knocks at Perry's door and he gives directions to your house. ;D

That three did show in my searches, wonder why. The snipes at the end will take this up a notch or two.
Very good buy Jeff  for a three hammered lid. The ones I have seen sell bring $800-1000. How long ago was this buy?
The three lid is the only piece I need to complete the Gris hammered set.
Your lodge skillet would draw some attention that's for sure. Only seen a couple of them myself.
I'll have to move and not give Perry my new address..  :)

The way prices are going on anything hammered, I'll never complete my Griswold set without a second mortgage.
