Wagner Sidney O - Rare?
« on: July 05, 2015, 11:50:48 PM »
I can't find any information on this little guy. Other ci forums say its rare but offer no info.

Looks to be nickel plate, and I've seen similar pans but the heat rings on them are along the outer rim, whereas this one is not. This also has 3 holes in the handle. It is a shallow pan (1" deep).

Arc "WAGNER" over a straight SIDNEY over O over 7. Heat ring. Not sure yet it the nickel is worn off or if it is in need of stripping.

Hello Christi. Welcome to WAGS. I see this is your first time. I don't know if you have had this piece over on FB. Usually what happens when somebody goes over there and asks about a piece, after they are done guessing and talking about it, they come over here to find out what they have. I'm not saying FB is bad because I visit there and I have a lot of friends there is well. :)

What you have here is an early Wagner Shallow Skillet or Half Skillet, they are called both. That piece is listed in the BB of Griswold and Wagner by Smith and Wafford, in the Wagner section. Because it is plated that knocks the price down some. I'd say your piece is worth around a hundred dollars. Its a very nice Wagner early piece. Hope that helps Christi.  :)

Thank you. I loomed a little more closely and the plate is almost completely worn on the inside. Need to decide whether to leave it alone or remove it and season the iron underneath.
