Griswold #8 Skillet...real lid or no?
« on: May 27, 2015, 11:49:31 AM »
Hello!  I just bought and am restoring this Griswold Large Block # 8.  It Came with this lid.  So What I am wondering....1. is this lid an actual skillet lid or is it a dutch oven lid that lost its base and someone put with this skillet? It fits the skillet perfectly. 2.  How much do you think these are worth?  Are they from 20'3 or 30's era?  Thanks!

Without question, you have a matching skillet cover.  The simple way to tell a skillet cover is that they have "ears" sticking out on opposite sides. A dutch oven cover is round all the way around.  Nice piece of Griswold cast iron.
