Dave,
I sell A LOT of these in my booth at the shop. That is a very common piece. One thing that is attractive about them is most folks don't know they are lodges so they ignore them. Especially nice to find them since they have a machined cooking surface. Makes it easy for me to find them. Anyhow... I sell them for $25-$35 depending on condition of the cooking surface and if there is any warp to them. Most go for about $30 because there is almost always a little warp on them. But that is okay, usually harmless. The great thing about this style and size is most stoves be it coiled electric, glass top or gas stoves. It is great for beginners to, since it tends to be more forgiving then the thinner older Griswolds and Wagners. If your friend is not experienced at cooking with CI then this is a the perfect beginner skillet.
I recently sold a No. 14 3 notch skillet and lid to a customer of mine. She used it to make a GIANT turkey pot pie. She said she thought she was going to get left overs for a few days. Her husband and his buddy finished it off in one night though.
