Hi Tom..Is it a slant/Erie or EPU? All I know is this one ( a real nice slant/EPU) has been listed at least 3 times at 1100. but nobody has bit on it yet.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/13-GRISWOLD-SLANT-LOGO-CAST-IRON-SKILLET-720-/381081508896?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item58ba3a5c20

A couple sold in Sept for around 720. but both had pitting issues.

If I was wanting a number 13 slant like that, I think eleven hundred would be a very good price, by that I mean cheap. But they are only wanting to start the bidding at eleven hundred so they are not saying they will take eleven hundred, but are we saying it went no bids in the previous auctions? Thanks.  :)

Well I'll say this, if anybody wants one of these, IMO I don't see how you can get one much cheaper. UNLESS you buy it at an auction or somewhere or some place where nobody knows what it is. Thats cheap.  :o :o :o

Maybe there's a reserve price that doesn't show up until someone bids the 1100.  Not really sure how that works. Have a feeling after 3 weeks, seller will take the 1100. though.

I just remembered about that one on Goodwill that went for 1241.00, but that one had the finger holes in the helper tab..pretty hard to find, would imagine.

And there was one exactly like the one that sold on Goodwill at the Simmons Auction in Richmond, Mo back in October and that number thirteen ERIE slant with loop assist handle brought three thousand and nine hundred dollars.

Perry, Holy crap! Must have been a few deep pockets at that one. Sometimes I think that makes all the difference...multiple high rollers that don't like to lose at the same place at the same time. They are nice, but not worth 4 grand. That's just crazy. Some people just have money to burn. Unfortunately, I'm not one of them...  :'(

Neal, did you notice that seller is selling the matching skillet separately? It will be interesting to see if it goes over 1100, when there's another one that might be had for that.

Somebody sure sucked that seller in. At 1800.00, that was a steal. I have seen them bring three thousand dollars, and more. Oh well.  :o

Actually, I did see it and saw the bid was still "relatively" low.

So was this a BIN for 1800.? I don't see any bid history. How do you suck a seller in if it's the price he put on it?  :-?

The buyer contacted the seller and offered the seller 1800.00. And the seller said he would take the offer as opposed to letting the auction run its course. So the seller withdrew his item from the auction. And then the seller immediately put it back up with a BIN of 1800.00. And the buyer knew he was going to do this. And so the buyer was waiting and immediately hit the BIN button. And so in doing this the seller was guaranteed his 1800.00. But the seller wasn't too bright. But rather than take the risk of completing the auction and getting less the seller took the fast money.  I'm sure the seller made money but the seller left a lot of money on the table. IMO

Ok..I get what you mean now, Perry.  I agree, "the seller wasn't too bright".

Sold....for $1005.25
If Ebay is an indicator of value, looks like the value of these is down a bit from the 3000+ days.

If the seller would have left the set together, left the skillet cover go with the skillet, I'd say he could have got close to five thousand dollars cause the money was in the lid and folks would have give more money to get that lid even if it meant giving more for the skillet. Pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered.

That's possible Perry, I don't know. I was just addressing Thomas' original question on the current value of the skillet. It would seem it has come down. I suppose at a big auction like Simmons, one could possibly bring more because of the deep pockets attending. But I know I wouldn't pay 3 grand + if they're available on ebay for 1000. or 1100.  ;)

Hello Mark. They are not on ebay for 1000.00 and 1100.00. The one that sold at the Simmons auction was not like the one that sold on ebay, nor the one that Tom Oen is/was asking about. The one that sold at Simmons was a number 13 Griswold with the loop handles. The one here on ebay is not like that one. And that makes a huge difference. So all number 13 Griswolds are not created equal, at all.   :)
