I saw this waffle iron in a shop today and was wondering what the approximate age and value are.  My guess for age was late 1800s... was I close?

As for value, it's obviously diminished for this particular piece, since the hinges on one paddle appear to have been broken off and re-welded with brass-colored metal. I was just curious what it would have been before it was broken, and what the value now is.

The markings are "J. K. Jr & Co.",  "6/7", and Balto MD".  Both sides are marked the same.

It's a petite little thing.  Nice and clean, sharp casting, and I probably would have gotten it if it weren't damaged.

Hello Sue. That sure is a cute little waffle iron. What a shame that it was broken and repaired. But they did not do a bad job. I would even give it a home but I would not spend more than twenty dollars on it the way it is. It it was not repaired I think a waffle iron like this would be worth around sixty dollars, just because of the size. You do not see that size very often. If I see that size I'd buy it. It'd have to be pretty rough to pass that size up. Ever who cleaned this one did a nice job. And I think it was brazed, for the repair I mean. Such a shame. Hope that helps.  :)

I also want to add that in previous posts we have pondered just what 'BALTO' actually meant. I'd say this waffle iron settles that question, at least in my mind.  :)

Thanks for the info Perry.  If you want it I could go back and pick it up.  I think it was priced at $35, but perhaps they could be talked down because of the repair.
