CI Meat Tenderizer
« on: January 28, 2014, 11:02:05 AM »
I originally posted pictures under Ebay Items (on the public side) and got only one response.

Does anyone have any idea of maker, age, rarity or possible value? The total length is just under 9" and the business end is approximately 4" X 2½". There are no markings that I can see, and I looked with a 10X loupe.

Thanks.

Hello Ken. I have no idea on its age or value, or even if it is a meat tenderizer in fact. I have some old hand meat tenderizers, and I have never seen anything like this before. But I do like it and find it interesting.

It is neat, whatever it is. My first reaction was thought it may be a sugar rasp.

After another light cleaning and inspection without the loupe, I found what appears to be "Ideal ....". Sort of a script font. Can't make out the second word, but it could start with "F", or "P" or possibly an "R". I originally mistook the lettering for just random marks from wear/abuse. Plus, I think I was too close to my work with the loupe.    :-[

I never considered a sugar rasp, but I can see where that's entirely possible. But I don't think the "diamonds" are sharp enough for a fish scaler, although the edges certainly were before someone hacked them on something ... like a skillet.   ::)

There is a way. I don't know how, but I have seen it done. You can send a photo to a certain site, and it will match it up with like items, Kind of like searching google with photos instead of words
