Favorite Piqua smiley #14 skillet?

Today I was wandering around a co-op when I spotted a skillet that I had forgotten about. It's a Favorite Piqua Ware smiley no. 14 skillet in almost new condition. I don think it could have been used more than once or twice in its life. The asking price was more than I wanted to gamble without sound advice. What would be the going rate on such a large pan?

Perry, they had $245 on it, but I'd have gotten 10-20% off of that. I haven't seen another 14, much less a Favorite this clean. I'd imagine that it was only used for something special - it's huge!

Me too. I have a set of these, 3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13, and 14. And they have a lot of ghosts on them. But if that 14 is as clean as you say, its well worth 200.00.

Frank I bought a nice #14 on E-Bay 2 months ago for $128! With  Shipping it was $150. I would buy it if I didn't already have one! You don't see em very often. Just seen a #14 Martin Stove & Range sell for $421 on E-bay 3days ago!

Be careful on this pan and be sure it is a good casting, I have seen reproductions of this pan, easy to spot them.  If it is real I would buy it.

Hello Blake. Thank you for this information. I have never seen nor heard tell of a reproduction of this piece. Interesting.  :)

Perry, I read it somewhere, I don't recall where.  Also at rennigers in FL I actually saw one a few years ago.  It was ugly at best.

Nah, this one was real. The casting was the typical Favorite - excellent all around. It didn't have any noticeable wear or seasoning either. Not even spatula marks. As I said, I don't think this was ever used more than once or twice.

I'll pick it up the next time I'm back up there, probably next weekend or so.
