Wagner Ware flat bacon skillet W/press[1103]
« on: March 28, 2010, 12:57:00 AM »
Just picked up a Wagner Ware [1103] flat bacon skillet W/press It is nickel plated and the plating is in excellent shape. Is it worth more or less being plated? I thought it was aluminum at first. Thanks for any info Also got 4 pieces Wagner Ware aluminum items. Will try to get pics if anyone is interested

Tom if the plating is perfect then it could be worth more than a black iron one but to be on the safe side I would say worth just as much as a plated one.

I am always open to seeing more Wagner aluminum items.

I would say the nickel plated press is worth about the same as the black iron if very nice.

I think what Jeff means is that he's sitting on the fence with this one.  :D

Tom......You might check with Roy M.  I know he likes plated Griswold, but not sure if he also likes the plated Wagner.

Clark I am making a list of items to bring. Unfortunately I discovered 2 items I bought Saturday were marked "second'. Clark I also got a # 3A skillet with just "SIDNEY" on it. Any idea if its Sidney Holloware or a Wagner?. I will try to get over after Easter if I can work it out with the friend at White Feather. Guarantee nothing will be left in car this time     Tom

Tom, to best of my knowledge the Sidney you have is WW... Pieces marked second. Hmm! I've heard of these, never seen any though.

I have probably 3 or 4 pieces marked "second" or "second 2 none"  which is there seconds.   One that is marked that I have is cracked.

Not to be cantankerous but I wonder if the Wagner pieces marked Second to None are really seconds. My WW aluminum cake baker - omlette maker, (the waffle iron with smooth paddles) is marked as such and it is a beautiful piece. I've seen some other aluminum pieces marked this way and there wasn't a thing wrong about them. I don't know for a fact but I'm just saying ???. Maybe it was just a marketing slogan.

My rice boiler has "second 2 none" and is cracked from the handle to the top opening.   But I have ladles that have the marking and are nice.   I wonder if it was a marketing ploy,  or not????   Never seen it advertised???

Well, let me be stupid here. But, to me, "second 2 none" means there is nothing better, so why anyone think it was a second? If it just said "second", I could see where it could be thought that it was some kind of cull.

Are all the items marked "second"aluminum? The 2 I have the following,Wagner Ware Sidney-O-NATIONAL ALUMINUM SKILLET,PAT, APL'D FOR 10" I.    The other is,Wagner Ware Sidney -O-,507  C  I also picked up a hammered Wagner Ware skillet with what looks like 3503 but is not marked "second". Anyone able to tell me if that is the correct number? It is 7" pour spout to pour spout . Thanks for any info.   Tom

Tom, what I understand from the reading here is that the pieces are not just marked "second", but they say "second 2 none", big difference. See what I posted three posts up.  :)
