I've noticed the same thing with the larger Slant Erie's. After the #9, most of the logos are very "light", and not deeply cast. If you find one that is, you found a reeeeeaaaal good one.

Perry I just watched Modern Marvels and it had a whole section on eggs.  My point is that I don't think you and me, nor this Chuck fella, would make it through the candling process  ;D ;D ;D  Don't forget to send the key with the trailer!!!

Chuck you are absolutely right about those slant Erie skillets!  2-8 can usually be found with outstanding casting.  The nine is a crap shoot as some of the pieces with ghost marks are so darn thin they warp in the sun.  10's are tough to find with a good logo but not terribly bad.  The 12's that I have seen have all had something else wrong with them but there logos were okay?  You very rarely see 11's, 13's, and 14's anywhere so I guess I don't really know about those ones.  I can't even remember when the last time I saw one of these three on ebay???  I don't think I have ever seen a 13 or 14 come up for auction but I have only been watching for about three years or so??

Hi Perry, I am planning to visit my friend at Pataskala and if it works out visit Clark and ED. I will ask their opinion of the 14. I had a pic on WAGS once if its still around. When I cleaned it I thought it was pitted on the bottom but the more I look at it I think its rough casting on the bottom. The inside is real smooth  I think the logo is deep enough also.  Tom

Tom hope you're not traveling Tuesday or Wednesday. You know they are calling for another 5"-9" of snow.
A slant EPU on the eBay link I posted sold $525. What variation do you have??

Hi Ed Afraid I am going to show what I know of the Slant logo which is nothing . How can you tell? No I am not coming this week. I will work it out with all of you if I can. I have some other pieces I will bring for Sow and tell as Claek says. I have a #9 nickel slant logo that has no size # on the handle. Maybe you can advise me on it. Also will bring the 24# Wapak sad iron. Hope I do not get ripped off again. Tom

Well Tom if you look in the Blue book you can see the different variations of Griswold TMs/logo.. With the slant TMs the word Griswold slants to the right. Then under the TM/logo it'll say, Erie PA USA or "ERIE"

Thanks ED, I was just down in the basement and found another slant logo. It is Griswold # 8 long griddle It is similar to the bottom pic on page 58 of BB This one has an 8 in the "forks" then "CAST IRON GIDDDLE",GRISWOLD, slanted, ERIE PA USA 745. Should I bring this one along?  Tom

Blake, just as a nice easy friendly courteous reminder here.  :)

If you are going to quote somebody, that is fine, and I do it all the time, and so do plenty others, of course, thats why the button is there. However, you can not change what they say, and then quote them. To quote somebody is to state verbatim what that person said. :)

sorry, I didn't even realize I had done that.  Guess I should post more often huh?

Reminded me of when I used to help my brother-in-law bootleg.

Hey Perry.
What?
How many cases of beer can you get in the trunk of a Ford Taurus?
35, if they come in 12 packs.  ;)
