WAGNER #14 SKILLET WITH LID
« on: November 17, 2009, 05:32:07 PM »
Dear all --  I have an opportunity to buy a Wagner #14 skillet with the correct lid for $150.  Is this a decent deal?

Tania,
In my opinion that is a very good buy...It's a great buy if the lid is fully top marked
but even if the lid is the 3 ring type it's still a great price given the skillet sits flat no damage (pitting, cracks) same for lid
OB ;D

It is nickel plated.   Brings the value down.   It is a good deal.  Ebay value is about $200-250

I see...  I'll take a look at it tomorrow and see if it's worth picking up.  The seller is not sure what I am talking about when I asked if it was plated.  At least he said it sits flat!

Well, I picked up the set --  and managed to get it for $80.  I do love to bargain -- and it paid off this time.....   ;)

Thanks for the information and advice!

Hey Will, Tania of "Tania's Treasures" sounds like a very nice person. I am glad we here at WAGS were able to help her with that purchase. It sure helps to know about cast iron.  ;)

Lets see, I'm from Ky you all know, so I am very slow. Lets see, Will said it would bring 200.00 to 250.00 on ebay, and I do believe it will in fact, cause I ain't gonna let it go no cheaper in fact, and so Tania, thats what I call her, now that we know her and everything, bought it for 80.00, thats a good deal too.

And so now with her ebay sale she will do alright. And like I said, its a good thing that Will was there to help with this transaction, otherwise Tania, thats what I call her, now that we know her and everything, might have had to give more money for this skillet and lid.

SO, it sure pays to come to WAGS, don't it Will? Me bein from Ky and all, I MIGHT have missed something here. What about it Will, did I miss anything?  :-/

You got it Perry.  You are not as slow as you may think. ;)   Love helping people.   Guess I should have emailed the seller and offered him more to send it to me.   I have bought MANY things on Craigslist.    But that is me being nice.   Will see what it sells for.   Wont do that again.

Well,  It sold for $176.03    I should have completed the sale with the guy.   I was already talking to him by email when I posted the link to Craigslist.   Me being nice to a new forum user.   Thought I was helping a new collector,  not someone looking to sell it right away.  Next time I will just buy it.

I would have kept it myself Will. I still need the 11, 13, and 14. For some stupid reason, about 8 months ago, I sold the #11 that I had for that set. I still have no idea why, and kick myself to this day that I did. Call it a brain fart or whatever, but I haven't seen one for the price I got that one at ever. I should shut up now. I'm making myself angry.  >:( >:( >:(
