Can anyone give me an idea of the "going" rate for these? Seems as though the red book shows 2 variations of the twin waffle iron and I am not sure which one this piece is (cruddy pics, have yet to see it in person)

GRACIAS!

I think I paid $130 for mine. I can't remember which of the 2 it is, I had to box it up when my daughter moved back in. Sorry Michelle.

Michelle, which one?   There are at least 2 variations of of the ones with 1892 pat dates, 2 with 1910 pats, 1 or more with 1925 date.  If you can get more info I may be able to help. Mike

The books lack a lot of info on Wagner waffle irons.

Thanks Mike, I won't have anymore info until I go look at it tomorrow. Of course, then I'll have to make a decision without having anymore info than what's in the darn book! LOL

It LOOKS like the base might have the type of bail shown on the 1910 version shown in the book.

(shrug)

This is all I have to go on for now...

I THINK??? these have brought $200-250 on Ebay.   Is this a general auction with everything else there?   If so I bet you get it for about $50    Anything under $100 would be a "Will" price in my book.

It's not an auction, Will. Just a guy with some stuff to sell. But his starting prices are very reasonable (for my neck of the woods anyway) and he's indicated a willingness to dicker!

Woohooo!

I agree mostly with Will here. I have seen these bring less than 50.00 on ebay, cause the wood was gone off the handles and just left the threaded rod. And then I have seen them bring, I am going to say right at 300.00, maybe a tad better, all spit shined and with a "Sunday Face". Personally I think they are under rated. I like them and think that the value should be worth more. Now bare in mind these also came in the four paddle style, BUT, folks say there is no three paddle style. ME, I believe that WAGNER DID INDEED make a three paddle hotel waffle iron. I just ain't found one yet.  ;)

They are nice, and I lke them, and not to tell you your business Michelle. But, don't go overboard.  :)

Michelle,  If I wanted one I would give $100 for it.   They are nice and under rated like Perry said.   There was a Griswold one like this that just sold on Ebay for $356.11

That was one L of a good price on that piece Will. It went cheap. I have this theory, if I buy something that I have given a gooood price for, like this damn piece here, then I like to volume it out. I am going to keep buying them till I get my average down to where its a good deal.  ;D

And Will, I could'a used this piece in lowering my average.  ;D

I think they are under rated too, but I do like waffle irons. ;)  Here is a pic of Wagner 1892 pat'd waffle irons I took to Plano.  There are a couple of toys hidden behind the big ones.  Mike

Mike, those look beautiful. I have a couple three of them double Wagners. I got one that the pattern for the paddles has been modified, and you can see some ghosting. I'd say that they used the same patterns for all these, just modified them. For some reason I can't keep these straight. I think that according to the BB, the newer one is the most expensive one.

OH, and Mike, this is ANOTHER reason for me not to like you.  ;D

I have a black iron Favorite Hotel Waffle iron, its been repaired, I got it at the Schultz auction pretty cheap actually, and its probably my most favorite of the hotel waffle irons. Mike, do you remember some time ago that there was a four paddle Favorite in black iron on ebay?

Perry, I guess I missed the 4 paddle Favorite.  I would have remembered that one if I'd seen it.  It would sure be a nice one to see and have with all the details on the Favorite wi's.  Mike

Not to get  off topic or high jack Michelle's thread there are a couple different 1892 twins in the picture.  Purchased way below what is in the books.

Yeah yeah Mike, I'm sure you didn't MEAN to jack my thread!  ;)

I did pick up the twin. It's the 1910 patten date. Nice shape! Handles look good. The handles are brown... they LOOK original! I think?

Anyhoooo... I think it was a great deal at $90!

Sounds to me like you took a hosin Michelle, you better pack them right up and ship them to me, I'll give you your money back, OH, ALRIGHT, ALRIGHT, ALRIGHT, I, will pay the shipping. Now you can't beat that.  ::)

Nice work Michelle. I THINK that one you got is the more expensive one. One would think the 1892 would be worth more, but I am pretty sure its backwards, old worth less vice versa.

Well, according to the red book, the 1910 is the more "valuable" piece.

Sorry Perry but, I don't think I have a box to ship this one in... I'll have to keep it!

LOL

Very good buy Michelle!  As Perry stated early in this thread the price for these are all over the place.  Both of the 1892's (the ones with and without the stop/level  pins) do seem to show up more often than the ones with the 1910 pat date.  Michelle does it have the Wagner stylized logo? The one with the stylized logo doesn't show up often at all.  Mike

Nope... the logo isn't stylized. Darnit!

LOL

I'm very happy with this piece. Now I HAVE to clean it...

So ummmmm... how does one go about removing the handles? I'm terrified to even attempt it.

Also, what are the bands that sit where the wood handles and base meet, made of? Brass?

The handles screw off.  The rod cast in the paddles has threads like a wood screw.  If they are real tight sometimes heating will help, just be careful holding the warm/hot paddles.  The little metal collar should be brass or brass colored anyway.  Mike

Michelle, I too was kind of apprehensive about taking wooden handles off of these Wagner waffle irons, but, I did just like Mike said, and never had the first problem. They come off pretty slick actually, and went back on the same way. I didn't do anything to the handles except put them back on, I did shine that little brass do dad piece up some though, before I put it back on. Take you a sos pad, get it good and soppy, and then put something in that little do dad piece so you can turn it within the sos pad, kinda like a polisher, she comes out nice.  ;)

And hey Mike, I don't know if I told you before, and if I didn't, I am sorry, but I am telling you now. Thank you for the information and advice. I really appreciate it.  :)
