#9 Oval Roaster With Wire Trivet
« on: September 06, 2009, 11:25:20 AM »
I have a fully marked #9 oval roaster with a wire trivet that I have been thinking of parting with as I have two of them. The wire trivet is listed in the red book on page 150. Does anyone know what the going price of these are on ebay?

What is a #9 Griswold, fully marked, oval roaster going for on ebay now?

Mark, I don't understand what you are talking about when you say a "wire trivet"? The original trivet that goes in this roaster is not wire. If you have a fully lettered number 9 griswold oval roaster with trivet, I'd say its worth around 500.00, if it is in good shape, no cracks, chips, or not excessively worn. Those oval trivets are not too easy to come by.

OH, I see, well, that trivet, in my opinion, will add little, if any, to the value of this piece.

Thanks, Perry. I think I will just pitch the wire trivet. Got some cleaning to do. ;)

Mark,  the wire trivet is good for a user,  but like Perry said,  not much value.   I think #9 alone are going for $500 give or take.

Ditto on the #9 on Ebay. Been watching them go for about a year or more and they have all pretty much sold around that price, 300-500 depending on condition and if the cast trivet was there. Sometimes higher depending on the buyer and last second bidder wars. I believe I recall one or two  going for 600 plus on occasion, seem to remember one in the 700's with a trivet that was pristine.

I'd definitely put at least a $300 reserve or starting bid on it if there's no pitting, etc, etc. More if selling with the cast trivet.

I would definitely not pitch the wire trivet. Not worth much, but useful for other purposes. If you really don't want it let me know? I'd use it for baking and it would be cool to have it as a conversation item. Let me know what you want. The wire trivets were sold/used more for the aluminum roasters of the 50's. See the RB page 150.

As a user, that wire trivit would work as good as a cast one. In fact, it might be raised a little more. I would use it.
