Gris toy collectors

I see in the BB p. 138 this Gris Alum skillet is valued at $100 high end. Any ideas what it may bring if it was to show on eBay??   The iron skillet on the bottom of same page brought $3550 in 2006 and it books $100. I know book is a guide thats why I ask about the skillet I have pic'd. Also knowing iron brings more than alum.  THANKS.

Thats a nice piece Ed. Can't say that I have ever seen one before. I'd think if the black iron one brought 3500.00 in 2006, this aluminum one is probably way up there too, but I don't think its worth as much as black iron though.

Or I'll put it this way, MOST aluminum does not bring what black iron does.

    The iron skillet has a p/n 409 and a zero at the 12 o'clock position. Strange that they are being called, "Size: No. 2" .  They are 2-1/2" in dia. I have never seen one until this one. Well, maybe seen one at a convention, but I suffer from CRS.

Just a shot in the dark here but I would say that the value of this toy would depend on if a collector need it to complete a set of the aluminum skillets JMO

The cast iron version is rare, rare, rare. I was offerred a plated one shortly after the black iron one sold. Blinked and it was gone for the same $ as the black iron one. The aluminum ones IMO are nowhere near the same value. Maybe $200 - $300?? Where are the toy folks?

I was thinking I saw one sell for like $500 in the last year.   But don't hold me to that.

According to BB this variation goes to the alum toy set shown p137 BB. Neat set if ya ain't checked it out you ought to have a look. I think most of these toys, even being aluminum would bring more than what the book suggest. Most I have never seen, not even on that eBay thing. If a child did use these as toys ,I can see to where the would be broke very easily. Step on it break handle right off, or crush the pots.

   Oh and Will, please start keeping notes of items sold on eBay, I can't catch them all!   ;) ;D

I have one and paid $2or300 something for it.  As Harry states likely a $300 max on it when the market was better, now, who knows.  There are at least two variations in the aluminum #2 skillet, at least that is what I have presently.
