« on: March 11, 2008, 01:40:18 PM »
I am needing info. on a 1270/ S.R. and Co./ Best Made/Wheat & Corn/Stick Pan
I would like to know who made it for Sears and maybe the value of it. Any information will certainly be helpful. :)

Thanks,

Griswold made for Sears. Part of Best Made Cookware line marketed by Sears. Circa 1920s- 1930s. Value, blue book say's $150. Don't think they have been bringing that much tho. I'd guess $50-90 on a good day.Look thru Ebay that'll give a good idea on value. Is there a patent #73,326 on the pan?.........................ED

I gave $25.00 for it. I'm in the process of cleaning it up and reseasoning it. :)

That was a good buy indeed. I could not find one on ebay now or completed auctions. Ya never know it may bring 150.

Here is a picture of a 1270 S.R. and Co./ Best Made/Wheat and Corn Stick Pan. Merit and Puritan pans are about the same with the Number(1270) but different shaped ears or handles and I don't believe that they had the PAT. No.73,326 on them , I may be wrong on that. What Ed said about the pan I agree with and the ones that I have seen didn't bring the 150 dollars it says in the book but who knows. All I know is that I like these.

Just an FYI:  In the past few weeks I've managed to get both the Puritan and the S.R. Best Made versions of this pan on eBay.  I paid about the same for each of them-- $44, which I thought wasn't bad at all.
 :)
Now all I need is a Griswold #27... but not the $150-200 minimum it'd cost me to get one on eBay.

Yep, they are very beautiful to look at, Perry.  But this is the one I really covet...

A no. 27.  It went for $210 on eBay about a year ago.

Guess I'm still learning about what things are worth to people.  However, I have noticed that the Griswold version of this pan, the 1270, typically fetches higher prices compared to the S.R. Best Buy, no. 2700.  Which is why I didn't even try to get a 1270!  They look identical to each other, to my eye.  Hope I'm right...

Carolyn, I think you have your #'s switched around. The Griswold marked pan is the 2700 and the ones made for Sears are marked 1270.

Wow, thanks for setting me straight, Harry.

Must have been yesterday's heat, and digging in the yard all afternoon, that affected my brain when posting that last comment.

That will be my excuse, anyway...
