Just bought first plated skillet - LBL #6

Ok, now what do I do? Start it off in the e-tank? Or lye bucket?

Most of the spots on the outer sides are coming off when I scratch with my fingernail. The spots on the inside seem to be where the plating has worn off.

Lye Bath.

Then see what you have after that... :)

Here's what I have so far ... after a couple of ours in the lye and about an hour in the e-bucket. I put it back in the e-bucket. It'll be in there until I get home from my Saturday job ... so another 8 hours or so.

BTW - when I take it out tonight ... i'm assuming I just season the exposed iron like I would for a normal skillet?

Question: is this chrome or nickel? I was going to polish the outside with Mother's Mag and Aluminum polish, but the instructions say not to use on chrome.

Here is what I have now. Since the last set of pictures ... it was in my e-bucket for about 12 hours and then I seasoned it with one round of Crisco (I only put the oil on the exposed iron). Debating whether to put another couple of rounds on there today ... or cook bacon in it this morning. Ha!
