First piece with soda blaster
« on: July 18, 2015, 05:47:22 PM »
Sweet husband got a soda blaster for my Noyes & Nutter bulge pot. Pretty happy with the results. Nice thin casting; light pitting on the bottom as expected. Just wiped with mineral oil for now.

:o :o :o Hello Susan. Thank you for posting this. What a marvelous job that soda blaster did. Thats a beautiful piece and I gotta say I like your curves. What size is this piece? Griswold made a number six, seven, eight, and nine. And I have them. I really like the bulge kettles with feet. Where did you get that piece Susan?

Soda blaster does magical work.  Bet it didn't take very long either.  So is his shop white or is the back yard?

do you have a before picture?  it looks great.  How big of a mess does the blaster make.  Did  he use a cabinet?

Perry - didn't see your post for a few days; we've been out of state racing. The pot is 12.5 inches across the top (lip to lip ) & 10 inches tall. Has what may be a raised 5 on the bottom. I got it on Ebay. One of those drawn out affairs where the seller finally has to realize no one is going to pay $500 for a bulge pot. I think he listed it 6 times before we made a deal. Thanks to Chris Stairs for his help. Will try to get pix tomorrow; dealing with a remodeling project. Sue

For Lewis - I tried to take pix, black on black doesn't really work. As for a messy job: we did it outside on the gravel driveway; np big deal. Glad Chris had the before, I never saved one. Chris is responsible for getting the price down & checking it out in person. Thanks so much. Sue

Bet it didn't take over 15 minutes for the job.  Also the soda outside is nice as soon as it gets wet it disappears.  I always end up with a coating from head to foot.

This piece always makes me feel guilty - I swore I'd never buy anything I didn't cook in. No idea what I'd ever do with this big a pot but it was N&N so I had to have it next to the stove. Wish the cat would sleep in it. Sue
