Removing the black after electrolisis
« on: July 08, 2015, 08:00:06 PM »
I am sure someone has answered this before but I just could not find it, I have a nice piece that I took out of the electro tank but it still has that black blotchy color in areas where the rust was, Do I need to drop it back in the electro or is there something else that can be used, currently it is back in the lye bath but it does not seem to be removing any of the dark coloring

Vigorous cold water scrub down with SS scrubby... and dishwashing liquid.  If it still does not wash off, I'd suspect it is still harboring bad rust under the top layer of 'converted' rust.  More electro time after the scrub down would be my recommendation.

Thanks Cheryl, I suspected it required some elbow grease but was hoping there was an easier method :(, Well I will have to pull it from the lye tank and start scrubbing :-/
