EBAY rant time
« on: April 29, 2017, 12:07:54 PM »
ever wonder why some sellers have a NO return policy?  Well I'll tell you why and why as of today, my policy will be NO RETURNS.

I just lost two cases on Ebay with the same buyer. This woman bought three items and wanted to return two of them.

Item #1. "Return reason: Doesn't fit(for example: clothing)
Comments: It s true - this pan does not fit my stove top. I have a gas stove which has a square grid and this pancake pan can NOT be balanced on it because of the pan s open undersurface. Didnt even think to ask about the underside of pan and there was no pic of underside. Consequently must return.

problem is that the person never looked at picture #3, which has the underside.

Item #2. Return reason: Just didn't like it
Comments: I thought we d like the divided skillet, but my significant other was not wowed by it. Since I am returning the other item, I would like to include this skillet in the same box (which you had originally sent all 3 items I had ordered). Thank you. And sorry these 2 did not work out. Regards, Carol

So, as the seller, I must know know the wishes of those that don't bid.

I called ebay two days ago and the representative "Joseph", said that these are not reasons to return and is buyer's remorse.

Today, a decision was made in the buyer's favor and the buyer is paying to ship back. I called ebay and this representative says, "you have a 14 day return policy checked". So I asked, so if I get up one morning with a tummy ache and decide that the reason for the return is that, I can return it?  She said, "YES"!!

So don't hate the seller with NO RETURNS, as I don't know if you'll have a tummy ache in the next 14 days after the sale.  Good grief, I'll lose thousands of dollars on shipping with fools like this running Ebay.  I hate being a seller on Ebay.

Oh I blocked a buyer on ebay that was arguing with me that the calculator was very accurate. This was after he bought something from me with only FEDEX shipping as an option because of the size/weight. I shipped it to him after he told me how to pack and it would not fit in the box he wanted. Just have to love the 'experts' on eBay.

The shipping calculator is almost always different from the eBay generated invoices, I asked an eBay rep and they said there was noting wrong, I showed them by entering a zip code in a listing calculator and then showed that same closed listing using that same zip code/address and there was a difference and sometimes it is a significant difference.

My biggest peeve with ebay is their final value fee on the shipping, ebay used to encourage sellers to be reasonable with shipping/handling/packaging fees.

I sell a lot of sewing machines, most range in the 32-45 lb range, I add $6.00 package fee to cover the cost of a new box(I buy from Uline) styrofoam packaging, bubble wrap, tape, etc, Generally It costs me about $6.00 for the materials to package a machine, Ebay's 10% fee on shipping means I am already shipping for less than actual cost.

Now add in that occasionally I will find an alternative method to ship a machine and actually wind up saving the buyer some money, example, I just shipped a machine from NJ to California, The Buyer had selected USPS Parcel Select and paid $68 for shipping, I shipped via FedEx Home Deliver and saved the Buyer $32, I refunded that amount back to the seller, Paypal automatically refunds part of their fee but I always have to call eBay and argue with them over getting that 10% refunded back to me, basically they just don't want to do it and unless you call them you won't get the refund, I know 10% does not sound like a lot but it all adds up and some months for me it can be $30-$50.

Yes I hate ebay but where else can I get that kind of exposure for my items I sell :(
