#7 Single Pour Spout Skillet With Gate Mark
« on: May 04, 2019, 10:36:57 PM »
I hope this works.  My wife found this on a local online auction site and we won it for $12.  This is my first attempt to post a picture, so wish me the best.

Thanks.  The lady that had it said it belonged to her grandmother and that she only used it to make gravy.   She has three more pieces in her garage and will tag my wife when she digs them out.  Hopefully, they will be of the same age and quality.  The sides and bottom are fairly thin and extremely smooth.  Her husband bought her a $400 set of enameled cookware and was wondering why she didn't use them.

That's a beauty Lee!

Hope the other pieces are just as pretty.

Myself.  And it cooks right well, also.  All I did was wipe it with a little bacon grease and a dry paper towel, then fried up enough bacon for four BLT's.  I just love those really old bottom gate skillets. :)

The inset heat ring fits perfectly around the large coil on my cooktop.  Medium heat with the fairly thin bottom produces excellent cooking temp. This is a nice addition to my three round griddles, 8 quart pot, half a dozen #7 and #8 double pour spout skillets (all with gate marks) and other conventional CI cookware.  Gotta feed that addiction! ;D

The lady with the other pieces of CI finally sent me pictures of the two other pieces.  One was a post-1960 #6 Lodge with issues, the other a #5 Made in Korea 3-notch rip-off.  Even after I told her I did not want either piece,my wife came home with the Korean piece and could not return it, so it is somewhere in the pile I intend to use to sight in my 30-06 for the rapidly approaching deer season.  I got the best of the three with our first purchase.  One of my best users, it is not just a gravy skillet anymore.

I have her big brother a #8 that appears to be identical. Love that Skillet, Still remember how I came to acquire it. Shopping with my mother at an antique mall near her home, expressed an interest, and she bought it for me, I seem to rermember it was also 12.00.

By the way the lady was talking about the two, I was expecting two single pour-spout skillets, of different sizes, to make a set.  Was I ever disappointed. The Korean fake was $16.  I really hope it doesn't produce a mushroom cloud when I sight in my rifle this weekend. If anyone hears reports of an atomic bomb going off in East Texas, it's just me trying out my new scope. ;D :D
