Vollrath
« on: October 23, 2018, 10:18:56 AM »
Does anyone know the timeframe during which, Vollrath made smooth bottom skillets?  The one I have has an incised 8 on the top of the handle, an underlined incised 8 (oriented toward 3:00) on the bottom and of course, the long rib in the handle.

Thanks.

Not sure specifically about the smooth bottom part, but the ones with only the number on the bottom are listed in the Red Book as being from the 50's and 60's. Changing from an outside heat ring to a smooth bottom would most likely indicate the later date given above.

Thanks Russell.

I did not "connect the dots" initially.  After reviewing the RB again, your logic makes sense.

Would seem smooth bottom CI was made near the end of Vollrath's participation in the market.  Therefore I expect there are fewer of these than their heat ringed counterparts.

Any thoughts on the relative value of the smoothed bottom vs heat ringed bottom CI (without Vollrath incised on the bottom)?
