If I EVER.........
« on: October 17, 2018, 01:43:21 AM »
even THINK about needing another one of these...

Someone put me in a straight-jacket and then a locked room to protect me from myself!!!

Talk about a CHALLENGE...!!!

Three days of fighting with this pan, but finally.......

I WON!!

Condition appeared good on receipt... but.... once cleaning commenced... well... let's just say months in the lye bath and 24 hours in the Electro... did not a clean pan make....

So... back in the lye bath and then I pulled out the big gun... the Evapo!

This piece was clearly OLDER IRON, as it started killing the Evapo in short order... but I finally can claim success!

Older Wagner "T" Pan is now looking beautificous!!

Spurgeon, this one made the Lodge 30 look like a walk in the park!!

You did an amazing job!! After cleaning my grandmother’s I swore I’d never do another one, too. They are a pain to clean, but the end result is absolutely beautiful.

BTW - how many gallons of Evapo-Rust did it take to cover that? I’m guessing, as long as you have a shallow pan that is long enough and wide enough, it would not take much. I’m still trying to figure out the best way to fully submerge my wire basket without having to buy five gallons of the stuff.

I used a Sterlite Sweater sized plastic box....  less than one gallon of Evapo.... for this pan, and it was a tight fit in the box.....

Now, the next few pieces I will post, maybe later today, I had to employ additional tactics to use one gallon of Evaporust and make it cover the pieces....

(Think Ziploc freezer bags filled with Water and sealed tight, to displace the solution, and raise the level in the box......).

(Had to make a trip to Tractor Supply last night, though, for more Evapo... 8-) )
