VICTOR ghost markings on Unmarked 755 No. 8
« on: July 30, 2016, 06:06:56 PM »
I always have a hard time getting ghost markings to photograph well, but I'll post this anyway.  I guess it's of passing interest.  I don't know if there's still an active debate over whether or not Griswold made the 754-755-756 skillets, but this one has definite VICTOR and 722 ghost markings, as well as a ghost dollop where they covered up the "8" in the slightly lower position where it would be on a Victor.  As is always the case with ghost markings, they're a lot more apparent in real life, but you'll have to take my word on that.

The "TOR" of VICTOR is legible, but the "VIC" is really just a smear, even in real life.  The "722" is fairly sharp in real life.   I hope people can see these -- they were the best I could do with my camera.

This is why they are called "unmarked Victors".

If you check the newest updated skillet chart on the Member's side of the Forum, I think you will see that these are widely accepted as Griswold unmarked Victor skillets. :)

John Knapp is certainly our resident expert on the Victor, and unmarked Victor skillets, IMO.  :)

Do you mean the Roy Meadows chart that's posted as a sticky on the top of the Members' Side forum?  It's got a date of 2008 on it, and unless I missed something, it doesn't list these skillets.  Or is there a more recent version somewhere else on here?

And, there are at least two variations of 755 that I've seen.  I'll re-post a picture of the second one here, but it's already posted somewhere back through the forum.

Never mind.  Now I see the newer 2013 revision that does have these on it.

(still no mention of variations, though...)

Thank you, Cheryl.

Search the WAGS Discussion Board for "Victor".... I believe there are some past discussions.

You also may want to check out the Casting Call Index, and Casting Call, V6 N4 :)
