Hello Stuart. I like your piece. But me, I would not give a quarter more for the piece if somebody said the basket was the original basket that came with the piece when it was new. You can go to any dollar store, flea market, garage sale, you name it, and get one just like that. If you want it to look old just let it rust up a bit. But the fryer, AND THE ORIGINAL LID, now THATS where its at.

Back a few years ago at the 127 sale a dealer had a Favorite deep fat fryer with the "original" basket for $50. I asked what he would do on it and he said he couldn't drop a dime since people would give $35 for the original basket all day long. I said OK, why don't you keep the basket, get your $35 and I'll go $15 for the fryer.I guess there were enough people standing around listening that he ended up saying OK. I'd like to know what he ended up getting for the basket. It was still there a few days later when I passed thru again. And, no, the fryer didn't have the lid.

I'm sure most of these have lost their baskets and/or lids over the years... And sure, we all like to buy at a low, low price...

Bottom line for me, if I pick up nice CI at well under the book prices (or ebay $$$), it's a good day. If it's crazy low price, it's a great day ;)

"Good" comes around more often than "great" does, but I still get a kick out of it. Who knows, maybe I'll find a stray lid at the next estate sale...

Thanks for bringing this up Stuart. Harry I don't ever recall seeing a Favorite DFF. Maybe I have but I sure don't remember it.  :-/

Perry, The Favorite DFF are hammered and I'm pretty sure Ed A. has one and posted pictures a while back, possibly on the old forum. Give him a ring and he can re-post the pictures on this thread.

I'll throw this one out there for discussion.  Favorite CHF??  The hammering and numbers are CHF style but the hammering looks like it shifted in the mold so not as clear the usual CHF pieces. 2nd pic to follow.
