Lodge Single Notch??
« on: November 24, 2015, 06:07:50 AM »
Please take look at this skillet. It has the single notch inset heat ring and a raised sideways "W" at 6:00, as I would expect from Lodge. BUT, there's no size number at 12:00, which I haven't seen before. The skillet measures about 9-7/8" in diameter (10-7/8" with the spouts), 2" high, and is about 14-3/8" long with the handle. I'd call it a number 7. Cooking surface is smooth and it's almost dead flat, so a fine skillet in any case.

What do you think? Lodge? Seems strange not to have a size on it.

I must be asking 1) harder questions or 2) boring questions previously answered--4 questions in the last few weeks, only one got an answer. :)

Seriously, with all the smart people here, I would have thought SOMEONE has seen a skillet like this before and can identify it as Lodge, or not.

Hey There Frank...

I pulled my single notch #7 to compare.

My #7  measures about the same diameter but spout to spout is appx. 10 5/8" and length with handle is 14 1/2"  (measurements taken from outside edge).

(your molder's mark is also turned 90 degrees compared to mine).

I think she's a LODGE...  I also agree that it is unusual to not have a size... I'd guess she's an older version maybe?

If you don't want it... ;)

Thanks Larry! I wondered about the sideways W. Would that have been a drop in in the mold which would account for it being that way (operator error)?

I measure from the outside too, so it must have different spouts and handle than yours. Is the handle configuration the same?

I like this skillet--well made.

The position of the molders mark doesn't bother me, as the molder would have made that after the sand mold was made. Maybe using something as simple as a letter punch. From the back I'd say Lodge, I am puzzled why no size on it though. There is nothing on the top of the handle? All and all I'd say Lodge though.

Not a thing on the handle Dwayne, I can't find anything else on it, other than the sideways raised W.
