HELP!!!!!!
« on: November 09, 2015, 07:05:10 PM »
I just received a Wagner sandwich toaster purchased on Ebay. It arrived with a broken base. They want to refund $50 and I keep it or total refund and send it back. The paddles are beautiful. Is there a chance to find a base?? What would you do? Really torn but don't feel like $50 is enough incentive to keep it. On the other hand if it is rare enough I don't want to lose a nice piece I've wanted for some time. Wagner 1455.

Wes, just my opinion. Those have typically sold for 225-250 complete, plus shipping.. So, I ask, put it the other way around..would I pay $200 for a set of those paddles? (prox. 250, less the 50 rebate, but no base)..no I wouldn't. Maybe someone would, but not me. I don't know how often that base (either height) would show up. I would just bide my time & find another.  :)

Hello Wes. If it was me I'd get all my money back too. I have learned that lesson a long time ago. Unless its a very rare piece I'd send it back. And those sandwich toasters do show up from time to time.

Does anybody remember the Wagner Omelet pan that looks like a waffle iron but you don't know it till you open it up? WAGS member Harry Riva found one. He says he opens up EVERY wagner waffle iron he sees.  :o

I would send it back for the refund and ask the seller to pay shipping

Sure looks like it. Now the question is would you pay 100 bucks for those paddles (if no one else bids) instead of 200.

What are the chances that the base ever shows up as a single item? My experience shows the paddles show up without a base far more often.

Do you see any paddles out there by themselves and what are they selling for?

Was it broken in shipping? If it was sent Priority Mail, you can make a claim up to $100--with your $50, the seller would only have to sell the paddles for $100 to recoup. If you really want them, counter offer.
