Found #14
« on: November 23, 2014, 09:48:13 AM »
Went picking today and found this in a small Antique shop, made my heart skip a beat! Really big #14 Slant Gris with a heat ring, couldn't believe the price, then I set it on a table and saw why it was priced like it was, big bow in the middle, such a shame. Also found a place in the local that had pans hanging allover the walls in every room for sale, just no Griswold. :( I will post more pics of this amazing place later.

$199.95 and it's bowed?!

Not me. Maybe, maybe, a third that if I needed one for hunting camp.

Set it on a flat surface with the handle handing over the edge. Shove the handle with a gently steady all at once push. If she goes around thats a spinner. If its bowed up it won't spin. IF this piece was good all the way around, that would be a real good buy for the price.

Hi Perry,
So are you saving if it is a spinner it is ok? I just pushed on both edges and it had a bad wobble teetering back and forth.

Here are a few more pics for pans I found this weekend, just now Griswold, someone beat me to them by a month.

Hi Mike, If it had a bad wobble from side to side, an upwards bow wouldn't cause that, as Perry said. A skillet, especially  one with a heat ring, that wobbles either has a pretty severe downwards bow, or warped in some other way. I find upwards bows annoying too, unless it's very slight. All the oil runs to the sides, leaving the middle, where your food often is, high and dry.  ;)
