Griswold's with star and daisy's in casting
« on: November 12, 2014, 11:17:52 PM »
Seen some of these on ebay.

Does it help date the pan better?

Does it make it less valuable?

Any other markings besides the star and daisy?

Thanks

There is no short answer, but most the answers you seek can be found here:

Hello Mark. There are a WHOLE BUNCH more of them markings. There is a list somewhere of the ones that have been identified thus far. As for value, IMO they don't make them anymore valuable, however to some folks they might be and probably are. As for dating pieces, no it does not help, but that pattern number helps narrow it down. Some folks collect the ERIE skillet and have a whole bunch of them. I have a few and I find them easy to like also. I'd like to use one of them but I can't bring myself to do it.

Perry, you really need to try one of your Erie skillets. If they are too pristine to use, I can understand why you wouldn't want to. If that's the case, keep your eye out for one that you could bring yourself to use..they are a pure pleasure to cook with.

Mark, as for the makers marks, I think they can add value, depending on the mark. You don't see the flag or the man-in-the-moon marks very often for example, but I would pay (a little) more for one that had them.  They most certainly would not make the skillet less valuable.
Everything you'll ever need to know about Erie pans will be found at the link Cheryl posted.  ;)

Mark if I ever broke down and started using one of the ERIE's, it would probably be the number twelve with a Pattern Makers Mark. Cause I like that size.

I use an 8 and a 10 for almost everything. Don't have a 12....yet.
