Griswold unmarked waffle iron
« on: August 30, 2014, 03:39:02 AM »
I believe this to be Griswold based on the 976 and 977 pattern numbers.  Note that the artistic script suggests this is from about 1905.  However, they are unmarked.  Quality suggests Griswold production, not re-cast.

Anyone every seen unmarked WI paddles like this before?

I also have a script pair that are Griswold marked.  I can post if there is interest.
Best Regards,
Neal

It's Griswold.  Here's a link to an earlier discussion showing the proper base for it.  Base is marked 884, which oddly (or not) is the same number on the finger hinge and later revised socket.  This iron could be on either of the 884 socket variations.

Link won't work for non-WAGS members.

Here's mine cleaned up on the proper base.  Some nice ghosting.  You can see it better in Chuck's earlier post.  Words under the upper patent line say "Pat Appld For".  You can see the earlier pattern number above the No. 8.

Thanks for the info!  Does any have any extra 844 bases?  Neal
