Wapak Hollow Ware??
« on: November 12, 2008, 06:06:54 PM »
Here's one I picked up at an auction this evening. It appears to be a nickel plated skillet. Not sure if it's a user, collector, or what. Thought the indian head look nice. Any info I can get would be great. It's a #9. And by the way, My WAGS membership is in the mail. Can't wait to see some of the dark side.

The wapak #9 cost me $36 dollars. Not as well as I've done in the past with some others, but it seems well enough. I've been watching ebay and they have an unplated one for around $90. They also have a #7 for around $80. I'm hoping plated value is higher. Keeping my fingers crossed. :)     Now where's the wapak expert Tom at? Hoping he brings good news.   Hey Perry? What can I do to have you help out with the membership instead? Is this gonna cost me?

Boy Lee, that is a nice number 12 Wapak.  :o I'd like to come across one that size myself.  ;) Nice find.

And Charles, no, the plated ones are worth less, the black cast iron pieces are the ones that bring the most money. This is even though when the plated ones were made, they cost more more. I think the reason is because after 100 years the nickel and chrome pieces start to lose some of their eye candy appeal, whereas, a black cast iron piece, you can make it look better than the day it was made.  ;)

OH, and Charles, yes, I think I can bump your application up some for you. We can do a wire transfer, I'll send you my account number.  ;D

I was reading this old thread because I saw another nickel plated indian head skillet awhile back but wasnt interested in buying it......here is one reason.  A posted from a long time ago about plated Wapak Indian heads.  I couldnt find the old original post, but did find this from another thread.

"A long time ago, I had a Wapak #8 Indian Head skillet that was nickel plated.  It was discussed on this forum at the time that plated Indian Head skillets were seldom seen, if not rare.  I may be wrong with my memory on the subject though.  I ended up putting it on Ebay and as I remember, and it did get to about a $100 I think?  Not much more than a plain iron #8."
