griswold #13 LBL cast iron skillet
« on: March 04, 2017, 11:04:32 AM »
I am active in the masonic lodge and shrine.  While visiting a local lodge in a neighboring town I discovered in their kitchen they had a No13 Griswold Large logo LBL skillet with Fire ring setting on the stove.  When I seen it I took a look no pitting no fire damage sets flat as flat can be.  It will clean up to near perfect.  Who knows how many years it has been in the lodge.  May have been there since new.   After I told them what they had they have decided to sell it.  I am going to purchase the item as I need one for my collection and with its masonic history is a bonus.  I want to pay them fair Market value for the Pan. As the money will go to a good cause with the lodge.  I have told them I will ask around and get some documented figures and write a check.  so fire away

Went over to breakfast with the lodge and to my disapointment it is a 14 instead of a 13 as I remembered.  Still in great shape but kills the value of what a 13 is worth.

You're right -- mega difference on value.

The 5th edition of the blue book values the #13 large block logo EPU at $1500 to $1800.

The same #14 is valued at $150 to $175.

Those values are from 2010 and are, of course, for items in minty condition.

Sorry it wasn't a #13... that would be nice to have.

However, good luck finding a #14 for those prices these days. Most go upwards of 3 hundred lately.
