Wagner #9 Shallow Skillet
« on: January 16, 2016, 11:33:57 PM »
Hello, I just posted on the 'Welcome' sub-forum with a little info about me. A few years ago I purchased this skillet for $11.00 at auction. Having no clue about it other than I liked it. Curious about the value, I 'Googled" it and was lead to several Ebay pages where the asking price was in excess of $300.00!

Now I know no one EVER asks anything other than fair market value for items being sold on Ebay....ever! So I told my kids that when I die, hang onto the Shallow Skillet, it's worth a small fortune.

Now it's time for a reality check. My #9 won't be for sale, but it would be nice to know it value. It's worth is already known to me. BTW, it makes a killer grilled cheese sandwich!

Thanks, Ken

Nice skillet, Ken.  I have seen a couple of these in the past but didn't have the money or the knowledge of what I was really looking at. Live and learn.

Ken that is a nice skillet.  As far as value I haven't seen one sell in a while. I looked at completed auctions on ebay and see one sold for $95 and the other for $89 best offer accepted.  I would say around a hundred for it.  If it were mine, I wouldn't sell it for that though.  That's a keeper.   ;)

Hello Ken. I agree with Roger here. If it was mine I wouldn't get rid of it either. BUT, if you want to get out from under it, I'll give you seventy-five dollars plus shipping for it. So you KNOW its worth that much.  :)

I think I could find a place to hang that.  8-)

Like I said Ken, I'd hang on to it also. One of our members has a collection of three hole skillets and he brought them to one of our conventions and showed in our 'show and tell' or 'favorites' display. He had a WHOLE bunch of them and no two alike.  :o

To those of you who see us talking about our conventions. You'll see more iron there than what you can see burning up five hundred tanks of gas running up and down the road. And nice iron too.  :)

Has the 2016 convention not been scheduled yet? I looked but didn't see any info on it. I just retired last September and looking for travel destinations.

And nice iron too.

If the iron is nice, the people there are nicer.
You may even get to see a 4-hole version of a Wagner shallow skillet.

Ken, I can't speak for the Convention Oversight Committee, but I believe they are trying to nail down the final details for the 2016 convention.

In order to attend the convention, you must be a WAGS member... very easy to join and WELL worth the few dollars it costs:

An additional benefit to membership is all the info available to you on the members' side of the Forum.

Hope this info helps. :)

Congratulations on a great shallow skillet, Ken.  In fact, I think shallow skillets make better breakfast skillets than breakfast skillets.  I love my shallow skillets and, like Perry, I am holding onto my shallow skillets also 8-)
