Griswold Dutch Oven No. 12
« on: May 26, 2015, 07:22:29 PM »
I may be able to purchase a Griswold No. 12 Dutch Oven p/n 2634 and the associated cover p/n 2636.   The markings are “12” at the top, ERIE (with no quotes) below that, p/n next, and a large slant logo at the bottom.  I looked, but can’t find this dutch oven in the Blue Book (except for the listing of p/n’s in the back).  Can anyone tell me the value and is this considered “rare”?

I'm not quite clear on what you are describing but I think you are saying the top of the lid is smooth and the markings are on the underside of the lid. And the underside of the bottom piece is also marked.  If thus this is what you are saying,  then that's a good piece. I would not call it rare but I sure would not call it common. If the top and bottom are good its easily worth six hundred dollars. If I seen pictures of it to see exactly what it is I might say more.

Perry, you “nailed it” on your assumptions of my description.  The lid is smooth on top with the markings on the underside.  I’m told that the same markings appear on the bottom of the piece, only with a 2634 p/n.

I do know that this is NOT a camp/wagon style oven.

Norm if it was a Griswold Camp Oven number 12 then that price would have to ratcheted up, A BUNCH.  :o

As you requested, I'm providing two photos of the lid. The bottom of the Dutch oven has unfortunately been sold.
