Cauldron prices?

 :-XHowdy yall!! Not sure this is the correct section, but I'm the new guy on the block as far as cast iron collection goodies, but have always been a fan of old cast iron stuff. ALWAYS!! Anyhow, I'm looking to restore one of these and maybe turn into a fire pit/bbq w/ cast iron griddle as well. But there are numbers on them and I have no idea what I should pay. They want $200 per cauldron. Is this good? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks much, Colin

Ugh!! Computer challenged with Picture. Not letting me post. i can never figure out this part!!! Ugh!!  Sorry, ill try to figure it out

Is it telling you the file size is too big, Colin? This is what I use now for resizing pictures. They can't be larger than 250 kb. Use the "medium" size if you try this tool.

$200 is ok price if it is one of the very large one,  It it is a smaller one that price seems high to me. Welcome to WAGS. If ever in east Texas look me up and we can talk cast iron till the cows come home.

Someone at Brimfield Antiques Show that deals with nautical items had a huge cauldron a few years ago.  He said it was from an old whaling ship and for boiling blubber.  Was asking $1,500, I think.

It was huge.  Think natives boiling missionaries huge.  ;D

I asked if he contacted Mystic Seaport.  He said that he did.  They have two and weren't looking to add another.  :)

I just love the history in these things!! A blubber boiling cauldron!! Sweet!! HA! Anyhow, I haven's been able to contact the lady yet, so I will hopefully have a little update this week. Thanks again Yall!! And I havent been to East Tx yet either...Would love a drive out there soon.
