Gris 15in damper
« on: February 17, 2008, 11:49:46 AM »
Anyone know what these large dampers usually sell for. I seen the price in the blue book, but you don't see many of these in good shape. Oh yeah it's hanging next to a WW #11 skillet. Thanks...........ED

Those bigger ones have brought $150+++   Haven't seen any in over a year.   12" and under are lots cheaper,  maybe $40

Yes, it cleaned up nice too. Couldn't pass it up, ain't seen but but a few this nice.  Who had the large dampers in Sidney anyone remember?  Was it Paul Baker?  Whoever it was had more than one if memory serves me right.

A year or so ago Paul told me he was selling a 16-inch damper.  If I remember correctly Larry and Sue bought it.

A 14, 16 18, would be cool. Don't need all the others, although I have a few small ones.

It was Paul Baker who had them in Sidney,  I believe he had most all the big ones except the 15"...  I also need the 15" to complete the set.  Now, I will throw a curve to you all, has anyone even seen a 24" Griswold damper???

I thought there was a 24" at the Sidney convention, everyone tells me no, so I guess I'm wrong. Must have been overwhelmed at the other large dampers. Would have sworn there was one that went darn near edge to edge on the table there.
Did they make such a beast?

18" was the largest at Sidney.  I received a flyer from an auction that was being held down by Philly a few years back and listed was a 24" Griswold damper....   I was gonna call to confirm and go to the auction, but the senile one here forgot about it.  Never heard if it was really a 24" or not...  Never saw one and never saw anything written about one that large.

When my wife and I were first getting into selling cast iron on eBay, we individually sold THREE 16 inch and TWO 14 inch dampers. If I recall correctly, we got about $300 each for the 16s and $180 for the 14s....... Bought them all at auction for $25 total. Still have a 14.....

I keep reading 14 16 18. Guess the 15 must be the HTF one.
