cast iron pot/kettle?
« on: January 12, 2007, 02:23:17 PM »
I bought this at a yard sale and can not find anything about it except that a antique dealer wants it bad.  the only marking that is on it (other than the stars and eagle on the lid) is a number 1 inside the lid. Please help.

Hello Robert, welcome to WAGS. Can you post a picture of the underside of the lid and the pan, that will enable the piece to be identified, if in fact it can be identified? Its an interesting piece, from what I see so far. Thanks, and again, welcome to WAGS. Stop back in and ask questions anytime. We love questions.  :)

Can you add a photo straight down on the bottom of the pot?  Hard to tell the age on that one.  Is there a gate mark on the bottom (long thin rough line in the casting)?  If so it's an old pan.  But could be any newer age without the gate.  If you're not attached to the pot you might sell it to the dealer who wants it REAL BAD.  Might bring a pretty dollar.
