Cleaning large kettles
« on: January 19, 2016, 09:47:51 AM »
I have a very old James Smart kettle that is rusty inside. Is there a good way to restore it without an electrolysis setup?

Depending on the interior condition... (how thick is the build up of calcium on the inside?)... I usually boil white vinegar in my Tea Kettles.

It is critical that there are no cracks in bottom or sidewalls before proceeding.  :) :)

There seems to be a big buildup of calcium and rust in there. I will double check but there did not seem to be any evidence of holes or cracks. Except for the broken tab the hinge goes through, it is in good shape for the age, IDed to before 1890.

Thank you for your help.
