Mike, you did a beautiful job on cleaning that piece. Congratulations and thanks for sharing/showing it. Its certainly a very nice display piece.

Thanks,  I like to see pictures of iron that is not in the books.   I know that it may not be as collectable or prized as others, but still like to see other pieces.  I hope others do also. I learn alot from the pics and discussions here.

Harry stated earlier in the thread that Yairs 'Detroit' and my 'Detroit' may be from different foundries.  Does anyone have any additional info?  Same or different foundries?  Mike

Mike, is there a pin that goes through the wood handle or is the handle located and held in place by protrusions of the cast handle holding the wood part?

Steve it appears be held in place by protrusions of the casting.--As I was getting the iron and camera out for pics, 'Mrs B.' asked if it could be 2 pieces of wood glued together?  I hadn't thought of that. That gives another otption.  There is still enough paint there that I can't see that it is 2 pieces of wood.  Here's some more pics.

I thought, too, about TPOW but more likely the handle is made of some sort of malleable iron I think.  Let us know if you find TPOWGT.

Two "I thinks". I think I've seen the Detroit style waffle irons with the wood missing on e-bay and there are protrusions in the castings. I think these  are two different "Detroit" foundries because of the Iron and Brass name.
