Plated Iron Mountain skillet
« on: November 03, 2018, 07:06:52 PM »
I picked up a #8 iron mountain skillet today, I am basing my identification on the handle style because the skillet is so caked with crud it is impossible to see anything on the bottom, I can see what appears to be nickle or chrome plating and was wondering if anyone has seen a plated iron mountain skillet before, I believe it is a #8 based on measurements. I am hoping the plating is still in decent condition under the crud, from the areas that are not cruddy it looks pretty good.
I plopped it in the lye right away hoping to dissolve enough to see anything on the bottom so no pics quite yet.

Still in the lye bath but it is def a plated Iron Mountain skillet, The plating is more whitish than yello so I am thinking hard chrome and not nickel

Looking forward to seeing pics when that is cleaned
