Griswold lid
« on: September 26, 2018, 12:57:17 PM »
I have a Griswold dutch oven/Tite top baster #8 833A and was wondering if there is a lipped lid for briquets available that would fit it. I doesn't have to be Griswold just something that would fit for dutch oven cooking. Thanks

Tom,
Could you supply an outside and inside dimension of your dutch oven.

Hi Tom,
The o.d. is 10 3/16 and the i.d. is 9 7/8. The lip inside the Tite top lid is 9 3/4.

Tom,
I do not own a griswold DO, but I have a Wagner DO with the same dimensions. I tried some of my 10" camp oven lids on it. A  Lodge lid is just a hair to big, a BSR lid is to small, I did find a Camp Chef lid that fit tightly. That exhausts my supply of 10" lids. There are other ovens out there so to answer your question it is probably possible to find a lid. IMHO it might be better to buy yourself a camp oven which has legs so you can set it over the coals. People seem to want premium prices for lids alone. Start with a 12" as it will serve you the best for all around use.

If you go with new, Katom.com is the best source for Lodge

I believe you would be looking for an 841 camp oven lid. The retaining lip measures what you need right at 9-3/4" but the overall OD of the 841 measures 11-11/16" - you would need to remove the bail handle or notably alter it to get the lid to properly sit.  They are out there, but they are a very hard lid to find.
