"ERIE" ghost mark on Wagner Sidney #8 Script pan
« on: January 13, 2018, 10:14:08 PM »
I recently acquired a Sidney script (no"O") #8 pan. After a lye bath, I discovered it has an "ERIE" ghost mark -- no model number or manufacturing letter.  I assume it may be a 1st or 2nd series pattern sell-off to Wagner.  I was told the pan was from the 1890's.  My question:  does the fact that it has an "ERIE"  ghost logo minimize the value of the pan? I don't want to go through the re seasoning process if it's going to accentuate the ghost logo.

I, myself find those more interesting

Condition and a crisp Script logo is what i'd be looking at, the ghost is a plus. Some collect ghost mark iron. You have any pix? Oh yeah, Sidney script pieces were made by Sidney Hollow Ware, not Wagner. Hope that helps you a little.

Yes, the script is crisp and I mistakenly added the "Wagner" while I was typing without thinking.  I was probably thinking about my Wagner Sindey O double arc pan.  My mistake. I'm fascinated to learn that (1) some collect ghost marks and (2) it might be a plus to have it on the pan.
