Help with these!!
« on: October 20, 2016, 11:36:18 AM »
Ok so I am relatively new at collecting cast iron, but have been cooking with the few pieces I have for years. Now I am curious about what I have. I have done some research on some and found some basic information. I have been able to determine (I think) that nothing i have is 1800s due to the casting style. I believe some of what i have is 1920's and some is newer stuff for sure, lodge stuff and wagner remakes. Anyway I am posting some of that I have not much info on besides a relative time frame it was made. Thanks for looking.

First is a pic of my collection minus a dutch oven i have. Not all is worth much some are reproductions and some are foreign made that i have gotten at yard sales for a few dollars. I should also not that i use most of my cast iron. My favorite pieces get used daily!

The second pic is one of my favorite pieces. I use for deep frying and casseroles mostly. No markings on it. It does have a significant crack near the handle so I always use two hands when using it. Any ideas on this one? I have had it since i was about 18. Thanks. Ill post more when i can.

Another favorite that was passed down to me. Also just to note that i am not concerned with value of these. I love them regardless. So if you know a value great, if not great. I am interested in the history behind them. Thanks!

This is a newer one my wife bought me for my birthday. She picked up about 10 pieces for me for $150 bucks. Some older some cheap ones but a couple that look promising. Thanks for looking!

Welcome Ryan, good looking collection! We like pictures of cast iron here. The first one looks Wagner to me. Good looking piece. The second one, I'm not sure, hard to tell as it is "well used". The third I suspect is a Wagner as well, can you tell me what the markings are?  Also how about a pic of the range you teasingly show a corner of? ;D

I agree that the 2 look Wagner, The other I think may be a Lodge with a lot of built up crud, It looks like you can barely see the 3 notches in the heat ring, I could be wrong but that is what it looks like to me.

Think you're right Valerie, after you said that I went back and looked again and I think I'm seeing notches as well.
