Tommy,

For what it's worth, there was a guy on the Forum not long ago that painted a hibachi and then decided he didn't want the potential exposure, so he stripped off the paint.  Here is a link to that thread, which includes the data sheet for Rustoleum BBQ paint.

Also, those Lodge Sportsman Grills were not painted.  I have a brand new one and the only coating it has is the "seasoning" that was applied at the foundry.

If you are looking for a cover, call one of the Lodge outlets and see if they can help you.

Regarding the Outpost grill, I suspect there are quite a few of them out there.  I have seen them.  Even Perry has one.  So I would hesitate to call them rare.  Compared to the Sportsman grill, they are uncommon, but not rare.
Hold still rabbit so I can dunk you in this bucket of lye!

I have three of the animal series grills and Crisco seasoning is the best as far as I am concerned, BBQ Paint introduces it's own issues down the road after use.
As far as a cover goes, either the factory outlet stores or also check out the covers available at your Home Depot, should be about 4$ -9$ for that size, that's where I got covers for my cooking tables, be careful with the packaging and if the size is not right, exchange it.

Thanks you 2.     The more I keep.thinking about it, I think I'm going to season the whole thing and at least try it to begin with.    Then if I don't like it, I don't have to strip paint.   Thanks for the link.
