L on bottom of handle griddle
« on: September 09, 2016, 11:42:40 AM »
I think it's a griddle.  8 on bottom and a capital L on handle.  Any ideas who made it?

That is a nice old #8 old-style round griddle made by Lodge. Probably made in the '30's or 40's.
What isle did you find that on in Home Depot?

It was in the "old stock" clearance isle.  ;)

thanks for the info =)

I thought maybe lodge, but then I thought, maybe the L was for something else.  Casting number or something.

The L is a molder's mark that would identify the molder who cast the piece.  They used to get paid by how many pieces they made or if they made defective pieces they would know who did it.

Cindy & I got one of those "old style" griddles for a wedding present from her Grand Parents in '75. First piece of C/I that made a many a grill cheese sandwich back then! [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
