Who made this?
« on: August 21, 2016, 07:19:24 PM »
Here is a nice little pan I picked up and I can't identify it. It's just under 8" diameter, with a "c" in a diamond at 6 o'clock and a "B" just to the right of it on the bottom.  There's an unbroken heat ring near the edge

Stephen,
I'm gonna take a wild guess and say that figure inside the diamond is actually a 5 and not a C.

Also, these are THOUGHT to be made by Favorite or CHF, but nothing conclusive has ever surfaced to establish that... in other words, the jury is still out.

Hope that helps.

Thank you Sandy for the reply. I've carefully looked at the bottom with a very good magnifier and I'm not sure if it is a "c" or possibly a 5.
When I get it into the electro tank and cleaned up I'll report back. Any idea on age?

I agree with Sandy that its a bad lookin 5. And also as Sandy says the jury is still out on these so marked skillets. But Favorite Piqua Ware went out of business during the Depression so if it was made by them that answers that. And then Chicago Hardware ended up with Favorites Patterns and altered them to suit themselves to make cast iron cookware. So if these were made by Chicago Hardware they could have been made much later than if by Favorite Piqua Ware. But I think they were made by Favorite Piqua Ware. I forget what it was but I did see something that made me believe these were made by Favorite Piqua Ware. I wonder if this response makes any sense. Where is Steve Stephens when you need him. If he were here he could, AND WOULD, write an essay in response to my answer.  :) ;D
