Buster Brown Waffle Iron
« on: September 05, 2015, 09:31:48 PM »
This cute little waffle iron is my most recent find.  I had to drive about 450 miles round trip to get it.  It was just so unique I had to pick this one up even though I had told my self I had enough waffle irons and was "done with them" because they are a pain in the posterior to clean....
I did a bit more reading and what I am findiing tells me that is likely more rare than I had suspected.  According to the foundry list it was "likely made by the A. M. ANDERSEN & CO., CHICAGO, ILL".  Other sources date to to 1906.  Any body have any more information on this one?

Okay, so after more than 80 visits to this thread, knowing how well versed this group is with the rare and unusual, it appears that there is not much more information to be had regarding this item.

Searching online, I could only find a couple examples of the Buster Brown being sold in the last few years;
November of 2014, rough condition example sold on eBay for about $500 with shipping.
November 2013 a nice example sold through an antiques auction site for a little over $1300
The "Pan Handler" makes reference to the BBWI as being "rare" and apparantly sold one but shows no information as to sellling price.

I am more interestd in using the cast iron I collect and this one appears to have too much value for me to feel comfortable putting it into service.

So, the question is if this thing is really that rare and desireable, other than Fee-Bay, where would you all reccomend marketing this WI????
