Large block logo Griswolds
« on: July 22, 2015, 11:03:46 AM »
Hello All. Our shop has been busy and have not had time to be here much. I would like to acquire a complete set of Griswold skillets with the large block logo. I know it will be pricey. Just need some help from the experts with looking, what to expect to pay etc. I am at a disadvantage here in Canada as you just don't see much Griswold iron. Lots of Wagner, and all of the Canadian brands. The other bummer is our dollar currently sits about 30% less. Any help would be appreciated. I am not even sure where the sizes stat and end. I do have a #10 from my wife's grandmother. I wont say money is not an issue but I am prepared to spend for the right pieces. Currently eyeing/bidding  a beauty pc on ebay from someone here. #8 Top tite fully marked...gorgeous.
Thank You all

Need to know exactly what you consider "a complete set".

3 - 9?

2 - 12?

This will make a major difference as the really small ones and the really big ones are harder to find, and are thus more pricey.

Hi Thanks for the quick response
3-9 for now as I have a 10
I will entertain any offering seriously on either set.
Piece work is OK if I need to acquire over a period of time.
So long as they are all the "same"

This is the vintage i would like to get a set of. I am up to about 45 pcs so far, assorted brands, sizes, types etc. but did mange to find a beauty #8 Griswold hammered dutch oven with hinged lid. This is probably my most prized piece. Well that and my 10 Gris that i use all the time. BTW, i plan on using every piece if that helps the process

Hello Randy. Thats good that you want to put together that set. Cause its the least expensive and easiest set to put together. If you should ever decide to put together the set/sets that Cheryl is talking about then you can expect to pay considerable more money and time in just finding them. Hope that helps and good luck Randy.  :)

Thanks, any finds along the way would be appreciated. If you pick a few up I will def paypal them for you. Whats your take on the #8 hammered small block dutch oven  with hinged lid?
Don't seem to see many of them on eBay or anywhere really.
Just curious

A bit harder to find and a bit of a 'hot' item right now.

Hi Cheryl. I have not restored it yet but i will post some pics of it. It is hinged. Not sure if came with the trivet or not. The few others i have seen listed do not have them. They just reek of quality and craftmanship. It would take alot for me to give it up..or any CI for that matter. But as new as I  am to collecting, certain pieces are off limits. Have a few other oddities I may need help identifying. I'll try and find the proper thread for that.

P.S. Might have a line on a Griswold neon sign...ever see one of those before?

Randy, RUN, don't walk away from that neon sign. Everyone that I have seen is fake. There are a lot of people out there selling fake stuff with Griswolds name on it. Before you buy anything like that, come on here and show us a picture. We might be able to save you a lot of grief and MONEY.  :)

A complete set of that style would be 2-10
the 2. 4 and 10 are probably the most expensive, the rest are more readily available
