Plated or not?

Hey there, just got this and the sides look like its plated. Any opinions would be helpful.

Looks like it to me. It looks too light colored. Possibly it was media blasted.

Looks like someone tried to clean it using sandpaper and the lighter colors are more polished because they were sanded
